:: AstroLove Overview: Astrology Online with Viveca StoneAstroLove Highlights October 2006 Autumnal Equinox brings a shift of focus and direction The sun entered the sign of balance, Libra, at the Autumnal Equinox on September 22, following a powerful solar eclipse on the same day. The equinox always brings a significant shift in our focus and direction, but with the addition of the solar eclipse, we experience an even more profound change in our lives. Solar eclipses catalyze changes at the deepest levels of our being that may not necessarily translate immediately into expression in the outer life. The change occurs first at an inner level of awareness that later gets expressed in a shift of direction. At the turning of the season this Fall, life asks us to refine our sense of purpose; to become aware of what motivates us in our choices, and to choose again, from our higher self, or spirit body, a life expression that is true to our core values. Libra seeks relationship to be fulfilled in life While the sun is in the positive, cardinal, air sign of Libra, we are motivated to take stock of our lives; to “weigh up” the positive and negative in an effort to find greater balance and harmony. Libra is about coming to terms with justice through finding what is fair for everyone concerned. People born with the sun, moon, or rising sign in Libra have a love of comfort and beauty, and seek to find the most pleasant situations, sometimes ignoring the facts in favor of seeing the best possible outcome. From a deeply ingrained desire for wholeness, Libra seeks relationship in order to feel fulfilled in life. Planetary mix at the full moon brings realization of changes Libra's ruling planet, relationship-oriented Venus, joins the sun in Libra, along with action-oriented Mars for the entire month of October. The planetary threesome magnifies the Libran tendencies toward creating harmony, beauty and relationship. Neptune in Aquarius brings the higher principle of unconditional love to the planetary mix, raising the possibility of embodying and experiencing the sublime in our love relationships. A full moon in Aries on October 6 highlights this delightful mix of planetary energies, helping us to focus our intent upon expressing balance and equanimity in our personal relationships. The full moon will provide a point of realization about important changes stimulated from last month's eclipses, which can now begin to be implemented in our lives. These can range from subtle yet powerful internal shifts, to more overt changes of purpose or direction. New moon brings new phase in our relationships On October 21, we have a new moon in Libra, coupled with Venus and Mars. The new moon plants the seed for an upcoming 28-day cycle of experience that will be centered upon the quality of our personal relationships and the desire for beauty and harmony in our lives. Many of us will be in conscious contact with our higher purpose, and may find new ways we wish to implement our purpose in the world. We will be changing habitual patterns of relating so we begin to express the more positive side of our love nature. Working with universal principles of creation, we can experience the most fulfilling personal relationships that inspire us to bring our true gifts into the world for all to experience. Sun enters Scorpio for cycle of personal transformation On October 23, the sun, along with Venus and Mars, enters Scorpio, the sign of personal transformation, and the theme shifts for all of us from relatedness to inner alchemy. Scorpio is about entering the fire in order to become transmuted, tuning base metal into gold. Relationship is still vitally important, but for different reasons. Where Libra seeks relationship in order to experience pleasure and harmony, Scorpio uses relationship as “grist for the mill” in the pursuit of spiritual awakening. In the last week of October, we find ourselves propelled into a deeper level of relating, one in which we see ourselves being reflected clearly. Mercury retrograde in Scorpio brings pause, reflection On October 28, the planet of communication, Mercury, turns retrograde (apparent backwards motion) in Scorpio. Bringing a pause for reflection, the retrograde Mercury in Scorpio will give us an opportunity to review and revise any plans or communications that need refining. Lasting for three weeks, the retrograde Mercury also provides an energetic matrix that promotes deeper, inner reflection of our motivations in life, offering a “clearing house” for undesirable intentions so we can move forward in the middle of November with clarified intent.
