I call that a BFO - Blinding Flash of the Obvious. Love is also blind which is how we often get into great situations that are costly. Is that oxymoronic? Anyway, I just want to share some tools, tips & techniques to help you get ready for love & show you the money!
When you brought your puppy, your kitten, your new best friend home did you run the spreadsheet first? Or, were you impulsive? Did you just fall in love at first sight and go for it?!
Dog Love: 1st year expenses can run from $300-$900. Shots, crates, chew toys, obedience classes, more shots, food, more toys, leash, heartworm prevention, ball, gasoline to drive to dog park and dog beach ... Meow Love: What about little kitty cat? Similar range, $361-$725. Another website even had it broken down into a daily cost of $2.18 a day! Parrot Love: $770 not counting a cool cage; Rodent Love: $160; Fish Love: $200; Frog Love: $145; Tarantula Love: $90 ... | ADVERTISEMENT |
Now that were warmed up to the concept that love is fabulous but not free lets look at the cost of two-legged love ...
Dating Love: Say, you're a city dating man - expect to spend over $100 on dinner and a movie - popcorn and whoppers not included. What about the woman? She's generally not listed in the CDI (Cost of Dating Index.) Does that mean that a new outfit, shoes, accessories don't count?!
So before you get out the debit card, check out these tips & resources:
Take the Breed Selector Test before you leave home looking for puppy Love. Some dogs are more expensive than others. Some breeds have needs that won't fit your life-style. Test driving with a blindfold on is expensive and heart-wrenching. Do your homework.
Take the Love * Get Ready * Review before you shop for significant other love on DateMyPet.com or at the park, the coffee shop, the grocery store ... do your homework on you!
Talk it out, chat it up with your friends and listen to what you have to say ... very revealing stuff here. Learn Financial Literacy & show yourself the money!. No matter how much you budget, save, invest or earn, if you don't know what you're doing (and they don't teach us at school) you could just be teaching a pig to whistle, wasting your time & annoying the pig.
