Language is my passion, which is why I became a 7th grade reading/English teacher; I enjoy reading, watching movies, and having great conversations with interesting people. I love to learn, and I just finished my Master's degree in Reading and Literacy. I require at least one good laugh every day! A good time for me may be dressing up for dinner and dancing or staying in with my partner for a good movie, good conversation, and a "rousing" game of Scrabble. I'm taking ballroom dance lessons, so a person who can dance, or is willing to learn, would be a plus! I am definitely not "high maintenance," but I do want someone who will treat me as the special person I am. I was born and raised in a small town in North Dakota. Growing up in a small town offered me many opportunities and helped shape the person I am today. I moved to California with dreams of scuba diving near Catalina Island, attending the theater in Los Angeles, camping in the Sequoias, whale watching near the Channel Islands, horseback riding in the mountains, and wine tasting in Napa. Then I found myself in Bakersfield! I still want to explore all that California has to offer. Maybe with you?? I moved to California by myself in 1998 from North Dakota. It took a few years before I was able to get my puppy, Haylee - but she was worth the wait!! We love going to the doggie park together! I don't know who has more fun - me or her!! I am looking for someone who is sure enough of himself to be with a strong-willed, educated woman. Although I am independent, I like to be taken care of, and, in return, I like to take care of the man I am with. I really want to meet someone who is close to me in age. Penelope and Bordeaux are the greatest dogs ever! Penelope is a 9 month old maltipoo, and she is a joy. She has brought out Bordeaux's fun-lovin' side. Bordeaux is an 9 year old Briard, and she's a sweetheart! She loves going to the dog park to see all the dogs and people. They love to wrestle, but Bordeaux is always very careful not to go too far with her 7 pound sister. Sheila, the cat, adopted me! I found her in my garage; she weighed less then a pound! She does OK with the puppies; she tolerates them.

Mom is a great person - she loves life and tries to take advantage of every opportunity she is presented with. If she could take us everywhere, she would. She loves having someone to take care of.

Haylee

Haylee was my little girl. She was such a sweet baby. My neighbors were redoing their backyard, and the tear-out had left soft dirt by the fence. Haylee and Bordeaux dug out. When I came home that night, I found Haylee on the street; she had been hit by a car. I can't explain the shock and absolute sadness I felt when I had to pick her up off the street. She's now my little angel.
