Theo is a typical Labrador Retriever, but a thousand times so. He's very devoted to me and I to him. He's a retired Therapy Dog with the Delta Society and Bright and Beautiful and a retired Search and Rescue Dog. He and I were down at Ground Zero for a month and he was one of the dogs that located a surviving Port Authority police officer. He was subsequently written up in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and the Montclair Times and a year later received a citation from former mayor Rudy Guiliani for heroism. The bond I have with him was strong to begin with, but in the aftermath of 9/11, our bond was forever cemented. Theo is a very happy, gregarious and affectionate boy who loves traipsing around with a stuffed toy in his mouth. Rain is a a comedian wrapped up in fur and usually she'll forgo food to watch the squirrels and birds from the windowsill. Sometimes her halo is a bit crooked, but she manages to get away with it because Mom is a softie. Theo I acquired from a breeder. He was one in a litter of eight and he came running in a flurry of fur and plopped himself unceremoniously down on my lap biting at my shoes and khakis. For me it was love at first sight, and from the twinkle I saw in his puppy eyes, I knew it was for him, too. Rain was a stray I found sitting on a garbage dumpster. She looked so forlorn I just couldn't walk away. I suspect she was thinking the same thing about me which is why she allowed me to approach her and cradle her in my arms, cooing to her and then bringing her home to join Theo. They are my heartbeats and I would do anything for them, and I mean anything. They come first and last, always. God gave me two angels in the guise of Theo and Rain and my love and devotion for them is complete.

She's a great mom, and gives us kisses everyday and tells us how much she loves us. Theo speaking now: I love when she takes me to the lake. We hike up the incline and when we get to the top, there's this really cool lake that I dive into. Mom throws tennis balls to me but sometimes I don't always bring them back just so I can get her to come in the water ankle high and have some fun with me. I really love my mom, she is my bestest friend. Rain speaking now: Oh, mom spoils me like the little princess I am. But she doesn't overdo it cause I'm not a spoiled kitty. I appreciate everything she does for me, right down to stroking my tum tum. She even laughed when I worked my way into one of the cabinets and using my teeth, I broke the bag of cat food. She commented on my prowess, but then I felt guilty that she had to clean it all up so I never did it again. I love my mom.
