Let's see...I like really long bike rides, napping with the kitties, snorkeling, scuba diving, wandering on foot in strange cities, pondering Alec Soth's photography, singing first alto, rereading essays and dissecting Joan Didion's prose. Because my friends and family know I like cats, I have a disproportionate amount of cat books, cat figurines, cat items, cat forwarded mail and once in my life not a few neighbors showed up at our doorstep with actual cats to give to me. Nevertheless, my life isn't all about cats. I have been known to be affectionate with dogs and little white mice. There was a turtle in my childhood. But he came and went with the monsoon rains and was always breaking my heart. I'm a loyal friend and consider myself a socially responsible person. I had a lot of nun friends who taught me that giving back to your community and helping those who need help are good things to do in one's life and I've tried to do that. I try to live a principled life and be mindful of my actions. However I do have an occasional wild streak. I try to do one or two new things every year because life is just too short. Someday, I would like to go to Patagonia to take pictures. And sometime soon I'm thinking of getting a friend for Meowsie.

I LOVE my cat. He's family. He's traveled with me from Asia to the United States. We met one sunny day when I was out for a morning walk. A tiny white kitten with odd-colored eyes demanded that I take him home. I got as far as 20 feet before he tractor-beamed me right back to him. He and I--my little paper weight-foot warmer-back scratcher and alarm clockk-in-one--have been together every since.
