Before grad school Everett and Amy travelled the great southwest , backpacking out of our pickup. Now we yearn for mountains and lakes and dirt trails and quaint little towns and a human and dog for company. We're on a grad student's schedule so long weekends or half day trips rather than weeks or month long trips. We are more interested in seeing and experiencing New England more than punishing aerobic activity so any level of fitness in travel companions is fine. My ideal weekend is this - we throw every bit of gear we own into my pickup and set off. Whichever direction is easier, flip a coin for North or South, look at a map and find a place name that sounds cool, take an exit because of an highway information sign, you heard about something in a magazine or novel. Take lots of stupid pictures. Or, a spontaneous walk or bike around the Fells sometime during the week, especially in the mornings before 9am.

My favorite game is "chase me". If you are fast we can chase each other while our humans stand around and watch. We'll be tired and happy and they'll be not tired and happy. Neat-o.
