Greetings! Im a fifty nine year old divorced female who lives in a big old house with her dogs, cats and birds. Ive am a true animal lover, and consider my animals "family." I love dogs, and especially Afghan Hounds. Ive been involved in rescue for a long time. I also have been a lifelong equestrian, and currently own a solid black Morgan. Besides my animals, I love hanging with friends, doing interior design, and Im also an artist. I also love gardening, and Im an avid reader. I love going equestrian camping with my horse and friends.

My pets were all rescues with the exception of one Afghan Hound I bought. Some of them have what are called "issues," so they would not be able to be placed in a normal home easily.

Our "mom" is special! She took all of us in when no one else wanted us, and she spoils us rotten too! We have our own room, our own deck, and our own swimming pool! We are groomed every other week, and are well fed. We have a large fenced in yard to run in, and we go for frequent walks with our mom.

To me an ideal date would be spending time getting to know someone in a very relaxed atmosphere. I like people who can talk about a varity of subjects, and are open minded. I do not like snobby people! Also, someone who REALLY loves animals!

The afghans are sighthounds, and love to run. They would like other dogs that are into chasing things at top speed! My horse would like a nice mare to graze with, and perhaps go on trail rides with her too. The cats just are lazy, and are content to eat and sleep for the most part.

Star was a beautiful red Afghan Hound. I got her as a rescue puppy, and she brought me so much happiness. We went to parades and malls all over West Michigan, and she just loved it! I tried showing her a few times, but she wanted no part of that! The first parade I took her to she was only three months old, and she refused to walk, so I had to carry her. When we went around the corner, and she saw the crowd all cheering she jumped out of my arms, and started prancing like the parade was in her honor. Her last parade was the local Christmas parade with her twin sister, Freida. Two weeks later at age six she crossed the Rainbow Bridge after complications from surgery for Mast Cell Cancer. I still miss her terribly!

Ginger

Ginger passed away during the early morning hours today after suffering a stroke. She had one a week earlier,and came thru that one fine, but this last one was just too much for her old body to recover from. Ginger was an afghan hound that I got as a rescue dog. She was in her teens, but no one knew for sure her age. She was a cream color with black mask, and very pretty. No one knew where she came from, but she had been in several shelters in Ohio and Michigan. She had also been in another home where she was obviously unhappy since she bit the woman. She wasnt trusting when she first came here, but after she knew we wouldnt hurt her she was fine. Mostly she liked sleeping on the sofa, and living a life of comfort! She was never able to run in the yard until her stroke, because she was a fence jumper. After her first stroke, she got a lot of TLC which she just loved! I am still feeling very sad, but I hope that she had a wonderful life here. She was loved very much, and will be missed forever.

Bubba

Bubba crossed the Rainbow Bridge today, and now hes with his buddy Mister Biscuit. Bubba was at least 16 or 17 years old. He was a black Afghan Hound, and the best behaved one Ive even owned. He was never bad, and always seem to be so happy. He was on of 29 afghans rescued from a collector in Lansing. The dogs were living in very bad conditions, and they had to use hammers or whatever they could to break away the feces to get the dogs out of their crates. He lived at a Animal Hospital for a few years until I adopted him. He was so laid back, and got along with everyone. Im happy he had a nice long life, and was able to escape his horrible beginnings. He went peacefully at home just as he deserved.
