| more about me: |
I am a Cuban-American single mom to two sons: Brian, 19
and in college at FSU, and Joey in middle school. I
dabble in Art and photography and dream of writing the
great American Novel, but settle for being a technical
writer in the corporate jungle. I also own a
part-time, freelance business, Write Way Designs, and
most of all, I adore being a pet mommy! Yes, in
addition to my human babies, I have a five dogs, a
cat, and a parakeet. I am not looking for a
relationship. After two marriages, I've been single
for a l-o-o-o-ong time and prefer it that way. I just
want to connect with other pet lovers throughout the
world, as well as make new friends! (Meeting other
single moms, small business owners, writers, and
artists would be great!) :D

| low down on my pet(s): |
My boys and I live with five dogs! Yes, count
them...five. It didn't start out that way. In fact, I
only intentionally adopted two of these dogs; however,
others were brought to me by persons who could not or
would not care for them any longer, and I could not
bear to relenquish them to the pound, so here we are.
Our family also includes two cats, who were strays but
adopted our family -- dogs and all -- two fish, and a
parakeet.

Pet Heaven |
| |
| Date: |
5/5/1988 |
Pet name: |
Princess (Tiny Toy Poodle) |
| In loving memory: |
I had Princess since I was 11 years old. She rode in my
bike basket and in my doll carriage. She was there for
me through my moody teenage years and through the end
of my first marriage. She was both my very first baby
and best friend. When Princess passed away one week
after the death of my newborn son, I felt I'd lost two
babies. If there is a heaven for dogs, she is surely
there. |

Pet name: |
Jeremy (Yorkshire Terrier) |
| In loving memory: |
Jeremy was a beautiful dog. He was affectionate and
cuddly, yappy and eccentric. As a puppy, his empty
food bowl proved to be both bed and toilet. His
favorite snack food were 'tootsie rolls' from the
cat's litter box; his favorite hobby chasing dogs and
cats 10 times his size.
Jeremy also wrestled with 'species' issues. His role
models were human, cat, and poodle. Housebreaking was
a challenge that only my toy poodle, Princess, proved
capable of doing, as Jeremy followed her everywhere,
even to the newspapers.
Jeremy survived both my marriages, living until he was
14 years old, the last two years in slow motion. When
he could no longer eat, I drove him to the
Veterinarian, against the wishes of my son, Brian,
then nine years old.
When Dr. Fischer explained the merciful act, he asked
Brian if he understood. My son, tears streaming, spat
out, "Dr. Kervorkian!" and demanded a casket. The
kindly doctor provided a shoe box.
A technician brought in the injection as
three-year-old Joey nervously skipped around the room.
As per his request, Brian held Jeremy when he took his
last breath.
Later, in our backyard, Brian helped dig Jeremy's
grave. As Joey and I prayed, Brian whispered, "There
is no God!" and we lay Man's Best Friend to rest.
Jeremy was a loving dog. My favorite memories are of
Jeremy curled up on my lap, on the chests of both my
ex-husbands, and cuddling with my sons, the other
dogs, the cats.
Jeremy, the ultimate Yorkie, lives forever in our
hearts. |

Pet name: |
Buddy - Golden Retriever |
| In loving memory: |
Buddy (real name "killian" like the red Irish beer)was
the sweetest golden retriever you could ever meet. He
was old, fragile, and riddled with arthritis and hip
displasia, but didn't let his ailments slow him down.
In fact, he was a wanderer, who consistently ran away
(or rather ambled with sheer determination) to my
home. His frustrated family let him stay with us on a
permanent basis, and we were very honored to have
known and loved him during the last year of his life. |
