Love living in the east village, NYC with my pup Patti. Take advantage of everything the city has to offer..Independent films nobody has heard of, museums and galleries, sunday brunch, live bands. Originally a jersey girl though - and go there often to visit family. Always doing arsty things - writing, painting, making short films, and think i'm pretty creative. Actually like walking in the rain - as opposed to everyone i know who thinks it ruins a day. Sing in the shower. Enjoy snowboarding, skiing. Road trips. Play a mean game of trivial pursuit. Darkly humorous, a bit cynical. Awkward nerd and confident rebel in one package. Child-like in spirit. Can be shy. Introspective. Super open minded, easy going, and down to earth. Finishing up my undergrad degree with a double major in psych and film, and will eventually apply to med school. Writing a screenplay. Spend the greater part of my day in the dog runs and on long walks..trying to please queen patti! (and wouldn't mind the company)

Patti is a reddish tan and white pit bull mix with unusually beautiful almond-shaped green eyes. Although she started off as a jack russell terrier (So the pound thought) and gradually grew into a pit! I brought her home from New York's CACC shelter on 110th street during the first few frigid days of January 2003 when she was only 5 months old. She jumped out of her cage and into my arms and refused to let go. Patti will be 3 years old this July, and I've already started planning her bday party celebration. She is the sweetest, smartest, silliest, most loveable dog I have ever met (and i'm not just saying this cause i'm her mother!) - and completely dispels any pit bull stereotype out there. She doesnt have the edginess of her namesake - the original Patti Smith, punk rocker...and i'm ok with that. She loves everyone - people, dogs...even cats. But for some reason, the cats don't share that same twinkle in their eye. They usually claw at her while she hides in between my legs. Patti is completely toy oriented. She will do anything for one of those cuz balls - the balls with feet - and prefers them over peanut butter filled kongs, liver treats, maybe even hot dogs. She also loves her planet dog "wangle bone", buddy balls, soft frisbees. She loves spending evenings with her pug boyfriend Simon. Sometimes there is even a little humping action! She hates going to the vet, but licks the vet's hand anyway as the vet is administering her shots. Patti goes to the dog runs 2 or 3 times a day. She dislikes loud noises - particularly the vacuum. And only barks when she hears someone approaching the front door. Mostly, Patti loves sleeping right on top of me, with her head nestled in my armpit. And hates when I have to leave her for even a minute.

She's my best friend. She is constantly cuddling with me and picking me up and giving me belly rubs. She lets me sit on her lap and get her all muddy - while all the other dog mothers yelp and don't let their dogs do that. She never leaves home without a toy for me, and usually carries around special treats in her pockets. She tries really hard to make sure I'm not bored, and is constantly finding new places to explore and new parks to run around in. She never ever yells at me, even when I had diarrheah all over our bed. Or when I bit her really hard on the chest by accident while trying to retrieve my toys. She doesn't make me do stupid tricks. And she spends many nights in with me because she doesn't like to leave me alone. My one pet peeve- I hate when she walks out that stupid door. What could she possibly have to do without me? Oh, and why do i need to take a bath..ever? Isn't that my choice? Also, she tells people that I like wearing clothing. She must be delusional. Every time she turns around, I try ripping off my winter jumpsuits with my bare teeth. And sometimes she gets too overprotective...if I want to walk across 2nd avenue against a red light, why should i wait? Those cars don't scare me. And why does she pet other dogs? There is just no need for that.

It's a cool spring day. The sun is just starting to dim. The grass is dry and plentiful. And a sea of boy pugs are approaching. Other breeds are acceptable, but they have to be very special men. There are toys in the distance. The "owners" are preparing a barbecue. They set down plates of hotdogs and hamburgers, with dessert of doggie peanut butter ice cream. A well-groomed male approaches. He sniffs my tush, and I sniff his. He smells good - very earthy with an herbal scent...maybe even a little fruity. He is quiet and does not bark. He does not try to hump me. He pretends not to care about me, but then casually touches my paw with his paw at the spur of the moment. He must not sleep all day, but rather he likes to get out and play. He must be a bit of a night owl like me, but only til 2am. That's where I draw the line. A pretty girl like me needs her beauty rest. And he must not be too conceited. I like a man who looks clean and well-groomed, but need not look in the mirror on the way out the door. He must let me hog the toys, the bed, and my owner. And he has to make me laugh. I like to laugh.
