I am a free-thinker, I think I'd say. Try to be open-minded and interested in people from all backgrounds. DO tend to hang out with those WHO LOVE their companion animals (that's why this site interests me!). Used to have four dogs (all in a small house), but they've all since "passed on" to greener and freer pastures. They were MY PASSION. So, needless to say, I spend much of my free time thinking about, reading about, talking about and enjoying the company of dogs (especially now that I have my new 'girl' Dusty-Rooney!) I WOULD dearly LOVE to e-mail people who are involved in canine activities in CU (or wherever). I've made friends over the 'Net in Vermont, California and IL, who are also dog people and we have a wonderful time sharing stories and photos. Don't know if you out there are at all interested in contacting me, but if so, please feel free! Being "companionless" down here in the "deep South" is HARD! WANT to be HOME in CU in the worst way and WILL soon, I hope!

I JUST adopted my new girl, Dusty-Rooney! She's the LAST photo of the bunch. Before this, my life was "graced" with what I'd call inanimate beings: that is, they don't move, and they were the best I could do for companionship for a whole year. They helped me get through a hard time of caring for a dying friend and for this, I am very grateful. They STILL grace me with their presence and I reassure them daily that I haven't forgotten them.

Dusty-Rooney says: She's JUST heaven! She rescued me from a crazy family who made me hide out in the basement all the time. NOW, I feel free and don't have to worry about being scared. She bakes me C-H-I-C-K-E-N for treats and takes me on long rides. wherever she goes, I go. We're just getting to know each other better every day. I think I'll keep her!

Not looking for a "date" in the romantic sense. Been with my partner Robin for almost twenty years, and we're quite commited to each other in this respect To be truthful, I'd very much like to have more male friends with dogs to hang out with, BUT also LOVE my women friends. so certainly don't exclude YOU! If it tells you anything, I'm in a feminist/lesbian chorus named Amasong, now somewhat famous in "town" and beyond for our eceletic music-making. (Am "straignt", with many lesbian friends) I DO tend to be political, especially about women's issues, environmental and humane concerns, socio-economic inequities, etc, etc. SO, I DO talk about this at times. I like going to Allerton, Lake of the Woods, and other places I've not yet explored in and around east-central IL Would be more than willing to drive a ways to meet new friends.

Like I stated above, I joined this site looking for "dog fixes" since I was "canineless". I want my new girl, Dusty-Rooney, to be social and enjoy other canines and humans. I'm fairly open to all canine types. Generally DON'T like the "yappy" variety or the "spoilt" dogs. PLUS, I'm NOT a fan of the AKC mind-set. I'm a "free spirit" dog affectionado. LOVE to watch dogs who enjoy water (My Yoda used to paddle around in any newly-discovered pond or creek chasing sticks, and this made my day!), dog-friendly fun, agility events, etc, etc, REALLY ANYTHING involving dogs having a great time! Have volunteered at the Champaign COunty Humane Society in the past.
