I try to plan my road trips and vacations around a full moon. My camping gear is used and unorganized but it's all in neat tidy boxes so I can't see the mess. I am all MAC'd out. I don't wear a watch. I listen to Public Radio and KCRW. I've been a commercial photographer for 20+ years (martphoto) and more recently also an online retailer of mostly apparel (rockytrail). I'm also involved in helping save some local mining history and am in the process of forming a non-profit to help preserve the Burro Schmidt Tunnel and Camp and some other nearby mining camps. TFLCC.org. Some historical data: I've worked at the Grand Canyon as kitchen manager of the El Tovar, hiked the Nankoweap Trail and driven the Rubicon Trail. I hitched north into Alaska to work at an exclusive fishing lodge in Iliamna and then for geophysical crews out on the ice of the Beaufort Sea. I've attended 4 colleges, never completed. Got married at 40, have 3 great kids I love to pieces, 2 of whom live with me 7 days out of 14. One stepdaughter in college, a girl 10 and a boy 5. Amicably separated for almost 3 years now. No divorce pressure yet. Am I saying too much? I'll add "honest" to part of who I am. Perhaps you have your own kids and understand. I am close to my family, however, everyone lives back east. I grew up on Long Island and in the Princeton area of NJ. Lots of great family camping & fishing vacations into Maine and eastern Canada. You? Affectionate, nurturing, adventurous, curious, spontaneous, creative, outdoorsy, doesn't mind a 4hr+ drive on a weekend to "get outta Dodge". Vegas would probably not be a regular destination. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy flying places and city things too! I'd like to find someone who's also making positive changes or who is happy with life and friends but looking to add something that's missing. Friends first. I'm excited by my work and excited by my kids and would enjoy sharing with a woman who can whittle a shelter out of a single piece of wood (kidding!) Just finding someone who is equally excited about life, future, and shared possiblilties...would be cool... We no longer live in the loft downtown. I've moved to be closer to my kids school in the SF Valley. We have a small house with a pool.

Takeats came into my life 11 years ago. I was coming back from a trip to the Rubicon Trail and driving my jeep along hwy 395. I stopped for gas in Lone Pine when a guy approached me with a box full of puppies. I already had a dog! Kaibab. Kaibab was a Blue Heeler Aussie mix and the puppies were Aussie/Black Lab. I looked at Kaibab and thought..."I have a dog and really enjoy it. I wonder if kaibab would like a dog?" Kaibab telepathed to me that he would....so I got Takeats for him. Kaibab has died now but Takeats is still with me.

Takeats is way too affectionate. She looks at me with those eyes all the time.

I don't expect an ideal date anymore. I'm looking to meet people/someone who likes the desert (it's close by) and the mountains, likes kids, likes exploring, likes dirt roads, I have no pre-determined spec's for looks. I tend to be attracted to unusual looking people. But that can only be determined by me. I gues you could say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" How geek-like! I guess I would say that I like people who are outdoorsy and not glitzy.

Takeats misses other dogs but she used to love a cat too. She grew up with a cat who wandered away. Long story....well...not that long. Takeats is very vocal when she see's another dog on our walks...but she just wants to play.
