Dormant artist turned programmer. I never meant to
have more than one or two dogs. They just find me.
They show up in my yard or they stand next to my car
in a parking lot on a freezing day.
I’m not much for any kind of motor sports preferring
bicycles, kayaks, balloons or sailboats. The outdoors
should be enjoyed without the whine of a two-stroke
engine. But, I do like fast cars. It’s a gender thing
I guess.
I’m pretty much an introvert. That doesn’t mean I am
shy, agoraphobic, depressed or avoid people. I am
happy but don’t really see the need to shout about it.
I get happy by doing things that make me happy, not by
telling people I am happy. Some of my best friends are
extroverts. I do not understand, what seems to me,
their constant requirement for affirmation. They don’t
understand my need for occasional solitude.
I'm a Ronald Reagan Republican."God I miss voting for

My work involves computer science/mathematics. I have
access to one of the world’s fastest supercomputers
(many people do). Finding problems that supercomputers
can solve makes me happy! I am fascinated by symmetry
whether it’s in art or mathematics. Discrete
mathematics and combinatorics are probably my favorite
subjects. It’s really just glorified cow counting.
And I have a bunch of cow-dogs, so there’s some
overlap of my favorite things right there. Symmetry,

All of my dogs except Button are herding dogs. Poor
Button. She is constantly being made to go "over
there". Cricket just wants to bark at a cow. Bazooka
just wants to bite a cow. Sheba wants to out-think a
cow. Tudy doesn't want any cow near her (or UPS men)
and Button wouldn't know the difference between a cow
and a frog but she'd try to play with both.
They are all in love with me. It's a problem
sometimes...
My nineteen-year-old cat, Tonka, died this past fall.
He was a really cool cat. he was black & white and had
a stumpy tail - just like my dogs (all my dogs 'came
with' stumpy tails. I'd never have cut off their
tails). |
