more about me:
Despite my slightly rough, slightly gruff appearance, I am a complete technophile and confirmed geek. I am indeed the human incarnation of the M&M candy - probably the peanut version. While naturally athletic and a champion of outdoor activities, I love to cook and prepare meals, and I'm perfectly content reading a good book or watching a good movie with friends (or with Emma).

I am a native Oregonian, but have lived up-and-down the West Coast and in Hawaii (Maui, specifically). My favorite town (other than Portland) is San Diego. I lived in PB and MB for a few years and have often thought of returning. And despite the fact that its glory days of collegial fun are behind it, I still love the former epicenter of American Track & Field... Eugene.

I earned my MBA from a large university in Oregon (and now for the obligatory, "Go Ducks!"). I graduated with honors in finance & accounting for my bachelors program.

Personally, I find nothing (almost...) more relaxing and enjoyable than long rides on my Harley-Davidson - rain or shine. For those who know or care, it's an Electra Glide FLHTPI. No, it's *not* a big, bad, outrageously loud Jesse James West Coast Chopper that screams, "Look at me! I'm more poorly-endowed than that Luke Duke wannabe with the mullet in the cherry red '81 Corvette!" But, I must admit... at least the guy with 'Vette and mullet actually has hair!

I am fortunate enough to finally have found a way to combine my inner nerdiness with my outer pseudo-biker-guy-ness. I love my work. I use my mind and my hands on beautiful machines and new technology.

For better or for worse (depending on your perspective...), I am now personally and professionally immersed in all things related to motorcycles. Prior to my current venture, most of my professional career has involved technology and marketing management in entrepreneurial companies. I find the process of starting and growing companies to be both exhilarating and fascinating. If you happen to have an interesting / fun / unique start-up company, drop me a line!

Currently, the main focus of my entrepreuneurial efforts is my wholesale t-shirt business. I'm planning a new line of rather tongue-in-cheek designs for the Fall selling season.

Oh... and on the off-chance that it's not clear from the rest of my DMP profile, I absolutely adore my Emma!

*******************************

The topic of divorce (ugh!) came up in a conversation and I feel the need to share my thoughts on the matter:

Divorce. Wow, what an ugly term that's turned out to be; it seems to conjure up all sorts of sordid and evil images for people. It's too bad, really.

I am, in fact, divorced. There. I said it. I'm divorced. Why am I divorced? My former wife and I finally came to the same conclusion that love isn't always able to conquer all. We tried hard for seven years, refusing to take the easy road when others certainly would have. Fortunately, we parted on good terms and are still friends. Aside from my irritation related to being constantly pigeon-holed as a so-called divorce', there is no baggage here, folks.

About My Pet(s)
Pet(s):
dog
Name(s):
Emma
low down on my
pet(s):
Emma is my beloved four year-old Great Dane. She was a rescue (Dane Outreach in Seattle, WA) and she has been with me for almost three years. I can't believe that someone actually let go of this wonderful companion.

She's Big & Beautiful. Really, *really* big. And very, very beautiful (to me). A bit dense, but oh so sweet.

She's also bit slobbery when excited about the company she's keeping; but, then again, who isn't? I've taken to painting her toe nails a fancy shade of red so that people won't always assume that she's a boy...

Emma enjoys being chased by other dogs, but *loves* anyone (and all) who will pet her.

Emma and I used to frequent Lucky Lab Brewery on 9th & Madison in Portland, but Emma is such a seductive floozy, that I spent most of my time talking with Emma's admirers and could never finish a pint!

my pet(s) would
describe me as:
I love that big goofy semi-bald guy who's always giving me treats and following me around the park, but... how am I *EVER* going to get a boy if he's always hangin' around, killing the mood???

And what's up with the smelly stuff he keeps painting on my paws? That's for girly-girls, doesn't he know that??? If the boy dogs are intimidated by a big, beautiful hottie such as myself, then tough... they weren't my sort of material!

Now someone please pet me...

About My Date
I am a man seeking a woman age 27 to 40
for:
activity partner
friendship
networking
my ideal date:
First, I have a couple of silly (but non-rhetorical) questions:

What in the heck is the difference between a relationship and a romance? Does one come without the other??? And what about friendship vs. casual? Nuance, I guess.

Here's another nuance-related question... what's the difference between athletic, stocky, large/broad, etc.? I honestly don't know where I fit, and I imagine that I *could* fit into any of those categories, but it's highly subjective and you may disagree... but I doubt it.

I can absolutely guarantee, however, that I am NOT svelte, slim, lean, fat nor fragile. Definitely *NOT* fragile.

Anyhow, I'm no longer looking to date; and I'm certainly *not* seeking brief interludes. BUT... I'm always happy to introduce Emma to you and your dog at a local dog park.

REAL people and REAL friends are always welcomed.

About My Pet's Date
My pet(s) is seeking a:
dogcatfishbirdreptilesmall animalsexoticothers
for:
casual
grooming dates
hanging out in the park/beach
indoor fun
long walks
outdoor fun
pet sitting exchange
romance
sleeping buddy
treat and a conversation
walking buddy
my pet's ideal date:
Emma says: "I like friends who aren't intimidated by my size or slobber - and know how to appreciate lounging around the house most of the day, occasionally burping and rearranging the doggie beds. *BUT* they must also like to go out once or twice a day for a good long sniff around the local park. The beach is always fun, too.

Uh, sorry horses, but I am terribly afraid of you. As a matter of fact, ask my dad what happened the first time I ever saw a horse. But you must promise to laugh only at him... not at me!"

-Emma
