| more about me: |
Freelance writer working on a Linux manual. I am new
to computer geekery. My background is in Literature.
I can recite several long speeches from SHakespeare if
you ask me... but I wouldn't reccomend it.
I have five cats, and do ocasional volunteer work at a
no-kill shelter. I do love dogs, and I used to help my
friends take care of their Great Danes, but I find that
when you get past a certain number of pets, it's best
to confine yourself to one species, and five cats are
not much more trouble than one.

About My Pet(s) |
| |
| Pet(s): |
|
| Name(s): |
Cecil Caliban,Oscar,Little Guinevere,Elvis,Simba |
| low down on my pet(s): |
In approximate order of Birth (and in the order of
their photos):
***Cecil Caliban-- 11 years, male-- AKA "Prince
Greedy" "Mr. Food" and "Jerkface Boy" Maine Coon Mix.
Cecil was brought up in a household with 9 other cats,
and as a kitten he used to run from dish to dish at
feeding time, trying to keep any other cat from
getting any food. He has dry food all the time, but
lives for the moment when I open that daily can of 9
Lives. If he thinks I've forgotten, he'll get in my
face and YELL! And yet, he is a big sweetie. If he
sees me petting another cat, instead of being jealous,
he'll join in with the lovin by rubbing up against the
same cat from the other side. Every other cat loves
him, even the warlike Oscar. If he wasn't mostly
stomach, he'd be all heart.
***Oscar Wild- M- 9 years-- big fat Tabby, my most
angst-ridden cat, prone to fighting with Elvis and
Simba. He howls like a banshee if they come near him,
so of course they take that as a challenge. Oscar is
prone to acts of "protest defecation", but also prone
to crawling under the covers and climbing into my
arms. Extremely affectionate with me. Is he my
favorite? They're all my favorite! Of all my cats,
Oscar has the most expressive eyes. I think it comes
accross in his picture.
***Little Guinevere F -5 Years- Russian Blue Mix-- My
one and only girl and SUCH A BEAUTY! Usually very
gentle and timid, but in a household of males, she
holds her own. Back when Oscar used to pick on Elvis
(the tables have since turned), Little G once leaped
to Elvis' defense, landing on Oscar with all four
claws. That as quite quite a sight! Not only did the
fur fly, but this time the fur was still attached to
the cats! Little G arrived mysteriously in my life
exactly one month after the passing of the original
Guinevere, also a Russian Blue Mix. That was a tough
loss, and she has been my comfort and joy. Little G
has a special relationship with Cecil. When she first
arrived, Cecil would hold her down and groom her. At
first she resisted, but before long, she was
presenting herself. Occasionally, Cecil tries to
mount her. (Of course, everyone has been spayed or
neutered, excepting only myself.) Little G loves
Cecil, and puts up with the indignity... to a point.
***Elvis- M- 4 years- Tabby. To be perfectly frank,
Elvis is my most ordinary-looking cat, and yet,
paradoxically, the cutest. He has a mellow
disposition, and projects an aura of total innocence,
even when he is up to complete mischief. He has a
taste for antagonizing Oscar for his own amusement.
He'll take a couple of haphazard swipes at him just to
watch Oscar freak out. He also has a high-pitched
"mew" that is at once disarmingly cute and painful to
hear. He may not be very bright... or maybe he's just
"eccentric".
***Simba-- age unknown-- orange mixed breed. my only
cat who isn't a little bit chubby. He's wiry and
strong, curious, talkative, and otherwise charming.
Simba was a neighborhood cat who used to approach me
on the street, apparently asking me to adopt him. It
was hard to refuse, but I was unemployed and didn't
feel I could take on another cat. But then, one day,
he came to me badly injured, big pieces of skin
missing from his hind quarters. The vet said that he
may have been injured by a fan belt when seeking
shelter under the hood of a car. As you can see from
the photo, he has since healed completely. |

About My Date |
| |
|
I am a man seeking a
woman age
30 to
52 |
| for: |
activity partner |
casual dates |
friendship |
marriage |
networking |
relationship |
romance |
travel partner |
|
| my ideal date: |
Is it okay to not have any expectations? I am world
weary and open hearted enough to not want to be
terribly goal-oriented about this. My objectives in
dating are:
1. To sharpen my social skills
2. To have fun
3. To have new experiences
4. To explore emotional intimacy with the right
person, in a tasteful and respectful way.
5. With luck, To share physical intimacy, in a
repectful, affectionate and imaginative way.
6. With much luck, To find a life partner.
Just about anything, even a terrible experience, falls
within these parameters, and I welcome it. I know that
everybody wants to be with the man who quote "knows
what he wants" unquote, but I've been something of a
dreamer all my life, and now what I want is to be
something of a doer, and that means someone who
responds to life as it is.
My ideal date would be me doing something that I would
never imagine doing on my own, and discovering that I
love it.
I may not seem romantic at first, because I dislike
cliches. Look deeper.
Turn-ons include glasses, tattoos, body hair, a wit
that could cut me to ribbons but doesn't, a mature
disposition in a youthful package, a youthful
disposition in a mature package, natural fibers. I
like big healthy women and petite healthy women, but
healthy is important, more important than quote
"looks" unquote. However, if you're struggling with
smoking, drinking, drugs, or weight, I've got a
certain amount of respect for the process of change.
I've been there with the smoking and the drinking, and
I'm currently trying to lose a few pounds.
Turn-offs include Conservative Republicans, long
painted nails, and women who shave their bodies to the
extent that they resemble little girls or Barbie
dolls-- which is about as delicately as I can possibly
put that. |

Hmmmmmm. I tried to find out what activities my cats
are seeking birds, fish, and small animals for, and I
found them to be... elusive. I think we'd just better
leave well enough alone. For crying out loud, there
are FIVE of them... they're not lonesome! |
