more about me:
I am into pushing the limits and go all out in activities that catch my interest. Currently the main free time activity I enjoy is rugby. It is great because I travel all over to play and no matter how hard the match, you can drink with the other team afterwards. I also am an environmentalist and promote the support of the environment whenever I can. With regards to my divorce, my ex-wife left me while I was deployed in support of the war on terror and I got custody of the girls. I enjoy rock and roll if you can't tell by the girls' names.

my pet's ideal date:
Layla and Susie will play with any other dogs, they may not look alike, but they're really twins. They've been together almost since they were born and can't stand to be separated, but will separate when in the company of others. They like running around in the woods or where ever they can get to.

In loving memory:
My mom just called me and told me Layla died. my roommate isn't offering much sympathy and my mom and I can't talk for long without getting emotional, so I'm just trying to work through my emotions here. I haven't seen Layla since my birthday in March since I've been on training for the army. In late April mom said Layla started limping, but I figured she just strained something. Within the last few weeks she got worse, and the vet thought she had cancer in her leg or a bone infection. Then in the last week or so, her breathing started getting bad, but we thought it was from the medication for the leg. This morning mom took Layla to the vet, and while they were doing tests on her, she had a heart attack and died. It turned out the cancer had taken over her body and was choking her to death. I am more devestated than I expected I could be. Layla was the first dog I ever got, right before I went to Iraq in 2003. I figured she'd be my legacy if I didn't come home. Well, I came home and went again and while I was home, added a friend for Layla, Susie. When I came home again, I came home to divorce and all I had left were my dogs. They gave me the love I needed and I took them everywhere with me, even though I don't think they liked riding in my Jeep. The best trip we had was going to the beach, where Layla was the only one who was brave enough to go in the water. I had to carry her out the first time and she clawed my chest, but she started swimming and seemed to enjoy it. It was still difficult to get her to cross the waves on her own, but she got into it. She was the best ball chaser. Susie was a little faster, but Layla had a better grab, so she almost always got the ball. She would often run into the fence at the far end of my backyard when she overran the ball. She also was incessant about getting you to throw that ball for her. She would drop it in my lap when I ate out on the deck, or on my chest while I was working out. If she couldn't find the ball, she would get her rope and get her to play tug of war. When she was little I would play tug of war with her, except I would put the other end of the rope in my mouth. I always made sure to win because I had to be the dominant animal in the house, but after a while, she got strong and I had to stop playing with her. I just couldn't pick up a 60lb dog attached to the end of a rope with my mouth anymore. She also ate an old couch of mine and a few socks, but other than that she was really good. I miss her alot, especially since I had planned on seeing her this weekend and taking her to the beach again. I knew she was sick, but I thought I'd be able to see her one more time at least. I can't believe how much I miss her right now. I expected that she would be aroud to play with my real kids eventually and run them around and knock them down and lick them and make them throw the ball for her. I really just want to go home and get my dogs, and hold onto them for a while. Two little puppies helped me get through my last emotional trauma, but now I only have one. I will certainly miss Layla for a long long time.
