December 12th 2009 Lisa & Matt

My fiance and I met on this site 4 and a half years ago and we are getting married this weekend. We just wanted to say thank you for your site. Without it, we never would have met.

September 3rd 2007 Jennifer & Ryan

After 15 months of dating, innumerable 5 page daily emails, many spent international calling cards, and 219 steps to the top of the St. Augustine Lighthouse, I finally popped the question and Jennifer said "yes" (after a brief pause to get over the shock)! We are absolutely excited to be moving on to the next step of our lives together and totally in love! Our engagement will last at least 18 months which will allow for us to plan our wedding :) We are each other's missing puzzle piece and look forward to continuing our story together!

August 1st 2007 Ann & Ed

I last wrote to you in February telling you how I was selling my house and moving in with the guy I met on datemypet, Ed. Well, Ed proposed on Father's Day and we are getting married in September. The dog Ed had when we first met two years ago has recently passed away and tore both of us apart. Thank goodness we had each other to get thru that. A month after Ed's dog passed away, we adopted a mother and daughter set of dogs from our local shelter. Our hearts were missing something, even though we had each other and loved each other. If it hadn't been for your website, I would have never met Ed, my husband-to-be just one month from now. I will always be grateful for your idea of the DateMyPet website.

June 12th 2007 Joe & Kaleda

I met my partner on your website; we are still together and have a brand new human baby (7 months old).

March 19th 2007 Jen + Ryan

Last year began with a rocky start. A long term relationship ended badly, family issues were ongoing, vet school was becoming increasingly more stressful. After a couple of months of rebuilding myself, I realized that I didn't need someone in my life to "complete me", but rather someone who saw me for who I am, shared and supported my dreams and goals for the future, and who cherished me. Somehow I stumbled upon a link to the Datemypet.com site and for fun, I searched fellow veterinary professionals. I came across a profile of someone who caught my attention right away. He seemed down to earth, insightful, and endearing. There was just something about this person that I was so drawn to and I took the chance and created a profile.

To my surprise, the "virtual kiss" yielded the first of hundreds of emails between Ryan and I. The more we shared emails back and forth, the more I began to feel intrigued by him. One paragraph emails rapidly expanded into those exceeding five pages. I felt so close to this person, yet was so far away. Emails turned into phone calls.

After two months of nearly daily contact, he flew to Canada to meet me and our relationship truly began to take form. We have now been together for eight months and have spent many hours traveling to see one another.

When I first made contact with Ryan, I never imagined that it would spark such a wonderful, loving and mutually supportive relationship. I have truly found someone who I never fail to fall in love with even more each day, who makes me strive to be a better person, who listens to me, who supports me and who appreciates the love and support I have to offer. I am so thankful to have someone in my life who understands and shares my passion for animals and who loves me the way he does.

We may be far apart for now, but I have never felt so close, emotionally, to someone as I do to Ryan. We seem to communicate well with one another and are unafraid to convey our thoughts and concerns to one another. We've supported one another through stressful times and have shared so many laughs together. He makes me smile everyday.

Had it not been for me hitting a couple of links in just such a way as I did to stumble across this website, I would have never found this amazing friend; my lover. Although only time will tell, it is my hope that our story that began here will find no ending.

February 6th 2007 Arlene + Frank

ARLENE - What an amazing website. I "met" Frank on your website in August of 2005. He sent me an email, the first I had ever received from ANY online dating service. Over almost an entire year, we wrote very sporadically to each other. I didn't believe he could possibly be my match. JUST an interesting fellow animal lover. On June 16, 2006 we met at the Apple store (besides our pets, our second love) and started a whirl wind romance. By the 4th of July, we KNEW... He met my little dog Batman (who HATES everyone new)... and Batman instantly sat on his lap and gave him kisses. Our dogs get along famously together... Most importantly, SO DO WE!!! We have traveled to Haiti and Argentina, as well as various states in the U.S. We share so many similarities it is uncanny. And I am SO IN LOVE!!! I could not have asked for more in the man I am planning on spending my life loving and learning from. Thank you, date my pet, for bringing me the love of a lifetime.

FRANK - I never would've guessed when I signed up for DMP that I would actually meet someone who I really matched with. I posted the pics of me and my boys (dog and cat) and let fate take its course. I saw her photo and loved both her and her dog instantaneously. It took her long enough to write me back but boy was it worth the wait. I had hoped we would get along because we both had dogs but who would have guessed that we would have the same car, the same desks, the same taste in music, latin heritage and same love for dance, travel and life in general. We are now planning to continue to see the rest of the world and help those in need. Both pets and parents are happy. Thank everyone at DateMyPet.

July 27th 2006 Glen + Nan

After years of searching, high and low, my love and i found each other right here on this site. We could not be more thankful to the folks that thought of this idea to join people with a common interest and love. Although separated by two thousand miles, you gave us the opportunity of our lives to find each other. We are eternally grateful and wish all of the members here the kind of success, and love, that Glen and Nan have found. Thank you very much from two very happy cat people...

February 13th 2006 Ann

It was right after Valentine's Day in 2005 that we both put our profiles online on datemypet. My dogs had just passed away and I thought it was time for me to move on after not dating for 10 years -- instead I devoted all my spare time to my dogs. Ed joined right after Valentine's Day too. Due to your advanced search engine, I was able to find Ed over 350 miles away.

Back in March of 2005 I sent a pet buddy request to ..... We started writing and met in person 2 months later. He lives 350 miles away (he lives just outside Baltimore, MD and I live in upstate New York). After writing and talking on the phone for the first two months, Ed decided he wanted to drive up to my house with his dog so he could meet me. We realized we treated our dogs exactly alike and had a lot in common otherwise too. We fell in love after meeting each other in person and I've been flying to Baltimore every 2-3 weeks to see him. If it hadn't been for your website and his posting his picture online, I never would have met the love of my life, Ed. We just celebrated Valtentine's Day (early) and I feel confident enough to say we will have a future together. I am selling my house and moving in with Ed in June.

February 11th 2006 Joe + Kaleda (From interview in San Mateo Daily Journal)

... I never thought I would meet anyone who loved dogs as much as me. Dates without pets didn't let me see how a person really feels about dogs

January 10th 2006 Charlene

Thank you Datemypet.com. I have not had much success meeting anyone of quality online before. I had heard of your service online and decided to give it a try. I love all animals and thought it was a great idea to meet other animal lovers. I sent .... a virtual kiss, he answered with a email. We emailed and talked on the phone for about 2 months, then John decided to make a trip to FL for the Christmas Holidays. One week turned into two and I hated to see him go home. John's Doberman and my parrots are even getting along! I love the way John treats me and we have so much in common. Who knows where this will go, I'm hoping for long term. Wish us luck & love.

August 26th 2005 Piercy

Since I'm one of those 'attached' people, I'm not seeking a romantic link-up with anyone on datemypet.com. HOWEVER, I've had SO much fun e-mailing those of us of the human variety whose best friend is their four-legged companion(s). It's been an international experience too! I've exchanged canine stories with a guy from Italy, another from Australia, a woman from Germany (who is a social worker like me)... and the contacts continue. I'm totally intrigued by the comments that the companions make about their 'humans'. Since I'm currently 'without' any in my life right now, it's also my way of getting what I describe as my daily 'dog-fix'. Finally, I was told a totally lovely story of how our canines came to be called 'Dogs', having to do with God spelled backwards. All in all, this is an awesome site!! Thanks to the person who came up with the idea.

June 21st 2005 C&P in DC

My now husband and I were both newly divorced and had custody of our dogs. He came up in one of my matches, we had similar stories, so I emailed him. We emailed a couple of times through datemypet.com, met up at a dog park and the rest is history! We've been married a month and have a very busy household with two dogs and my cat! We talk about meeting through this site all of the time. We never would have met without it. We were truly just looking for someone to spend time with and to socialize our dogs. We ended up meeting the person each of us was meant to be with! Thank you, datemypet.com.

June 16th 2005 Jane

I met Erik on this site in the beginning of January. I had read about Date My Pet in Cat Fancy magazine. I really only started using the site for fun, not expecting to meet anyone. However, I met him and we made an amazing connection. After a week of many emails, we finally met up in person. Our dogs fell madly in love, and over the next few months we did too... I recently moved to Northern VA to be with Erik, and things are going well. Our house is crazy now that we have combined all our pets, but it's well worth it. I don't think I could have met someone who I connected with so well if it wasn't for this website. We joke about what a good story it will be at our wedding. Thanks!!

March 2nd 2005 Laura

Remember that being "datemypet" you want to be sure that EVERYONE'S compatible. I met a nice guy on here but his dog was very untrained and pooped and puked his way around my apartment. But I'm sure there's lots of nice housebroken dogs on here that come with nice responsible guys - I just gotta find one of em!

September 4th 2004 MetroDC123 (screen name)

No love connection on my pet date.. but we had a nice 3 hrs chat at the Theatro in K Street NW DC. She is very cool to hang out with and I hope we can do it again sometime.

August 20th 2004 Jamie

First off, you guys rock! I've met some really cool new people through this site.

July 18th 2004 Wendy who met Russ

Wendy: I finally found a dating service for people like me who, not only love animals, but have pets as a major part of my life. And better yet, I very quickly met someone for whom my dogs are actually a positive in our mutual compatibility, as opposed to a negative.

Russ and I had been writing for about three weeks before we met. Why? He's non local, in the Sacramento area, and I live in the South Bay (San Francisco Bay area), about 2.5 hours away. I actually found him because, despite the distance, his was one of the names on my, get this, AUTOMATED matches from DateMyPet.com.

I had actually never heard of Carmichael Ca; I figured it was in Southern Ca., the Sierras or up near Eureka. So I went to 'Ask Jeeves', and out popped these Chamber of Commerce webpages of this beautiful, tree-lined city next to Sacramento. I figured, what the hell, "Carmichael" is easier to spell than "Connecticut" and has less toxic waste sites than New Jersey so I may as well write him. Besides, Russ had a picture of this big fluffy dog who I thought would be a good playmate for Kayla.

What impressed me the most about Russ was his writing and his unique sense of humor. He is extremely articulate and hysterically funny in the way he described his life, even tho' I admit I didn't get one of his jokes. He said he moved to Lon Giland and it went right over my head. Joys of being short and having lived on the left coast too long. I showed all my friends his writing and they were all encouraging me to meet him.

When we met, what amazed me is that I could show up with a TRUCKLOAD of dogs and he was fine with it. We spent the day at DelValle in Livermore walking around with our now four dogs. And I was so pleased because my dogs behaved themselves perfectly and his dog was naughty; she tried to steal my hot dog and I wouldn't let her.

The only other way I could have met someone who was so into dogs was at another dog venue: dog park, dog show, dog store, etc. It just shows you that you need to go where the dogs are if you want to meet dog lovers.

When I go up next weekend, I'll have my three dogs, Kayla, Moondance and Daisy. Russ will have his Zoe and Tiger, of whom he has half custody with his ex-wife. That will make five dogs. In the immortal words of MTV: "Too much is never enough".

Or, as I like to say "She who dies with the most dogs wins"

Russ: I'm a firm believer in the standard psychological dog. Take one, put in it a household, talk to it, in six weeks and you'll know everything you need to know. When Wendy got off the bus with three dogs, all friendly, self assured, inquisitive, socially accomplished, and in varying stages of goofiness, happiness, and all around dogdom -- that's all I needed to know to send any trepidations packing.

Nothing left but: Onward, through the fog!

July 17th 2004 Jill

No love connection on my pet date...but it was fun...we met at a dog park.
